When I look back at the early days of my business, a few things stand out very clearly.
I had endless ideas but absolutely no structure.
I didn’t know how to price anything.
I didn’t feel like a “proper” business owner.
And I was figuring everything out on my own, usually late at night, usually second-guessing myself.
None of it felt tidy, strategic or polished. It was just… learning as I went.
But what I didn’t realise then was that those messy early stages were quietly shaping the business I would build later.
They taught me how important clarity is.
They taught me how much confidence impacts everything.
And they taught me what it feels like to be overwhelmed by your own ideas.
Fast forward to this year, where I’ve spent time digging into my “why” (the heart of why I do what I do). And something clicked in a way it never had before:
Your journey doesn’t just shape you. It shapes your business. It even shapes the services you end up offering.
I realised that the things I love supporting my clients with now:
clarity,
direction,
confidence,
seeing the bigger picture
Are the exact things I struggled with the most when I was starting out.
It makes perfect sense (now!).
Of course we use our own experiences to problem-solve for other people.
Of course the challenges we’ve lived through become the areas where we naturally have more empathy, insight and patience.
That was a big “aha” moment for me.
Because my work today goes far beyond design. Yes, I create brands, websites and visuals — but what really transforms a business isn’t the visuals. It’s the clarity that happens before the design.
It’s helping someone untangle their ideas.
It’s giving them structure and direction.
It’s helping them see the potential they couldn’t quite articulate.
It’s making everything finally feel doable.
That shift, from confusion to clarity, is the part I love most.
And now I can see exactly where it came from.
If your business feels overwhelming or tangled right now, it doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong.
It’s just part of the journey. And one day, that experience will become the thing you’re best at helping others with too.
Another “click” moment unlocked.
